Oak Lodge School, Barnet: Careers Education and Guidance

Careers Education and Guidance

Careers Education and Guidance is promoted through class learning supported by work related activities and residential opportunities that arise across the school. There are well-established links between the school and local Further Education Colleges, Youth Training Establishments and Prospects, the local Careers Service.

A careers adviser with a specialism in learning disabilities provides guidance for students from Year 9 onwards and supports their transition into further education, training or employment according to their individual circumstances.

There is a strong element of pre-vocational and work related learning within the school curriculum from Year 9. Work experience placements may be offered to students from Year 10 onwards, and throughout our Post-16 provision, depending on the needs of the students and the opportunities that become available.
